What the best colour code for a worked 1275 's' motor? I currently have a blue spring would it be strong enough or should i go for orange? Does it matter that much or do they slip if not right? cheers

Orange is pretty strong (Race/rally) type thing,,, if you choose to use it then STAY OFF the clutch as much as possible & try not to ride it at all.

The grey is basically the strongest of the factory type & they are pretty well full race only & i definately don`t recomend them for road use at all

the Dark blue should be fine for you ...---> as long as it`s all sweet & set up right.

Which-ever one you decide on, make sure you have it all set up so that the throw out bearing isn`t running on the clutch the whole dam time,,, the amount of throw out bearings that people commonly & frequently replace is simply due to mal adjustment (over adjustment) BECAUSE of another "THROW" or inadequate "TRAVEL" problem that hasn`t been sorted properly.

It goes on the same as the later one does. But lasts longer.

Don't bash on the thrust face when fitting it, use a press.

I agree with Matt, a dark blue diaphragm should be fine. I ran one in my well worked 1310 for years.

Make sure diaphragm spring is flat when bolted up. see here- http://www.minimania.com/web/DisplayID/ ... ticleV.cfm

With an unidentified plate (the paint spot is missing) can I measure the diaphragm spring thickness wit ha micrometer to get an idea of what it is? or does the plate's metalurgy/design change?

Measure it and I'll measure a blue dot one too.

I measured the one I have here (from the S engine) and got and average around the plate of .090 of an inch. This was a little in from the inner edge because of the wear that occurs here.
