Hello all,

I'm Sam and I'm afraid I've only just signed up and looking for help already! I'm from Scotland originally but have been in Sydney nearly 20 years, 12 of them with my best buddy... he's the ray of sunshine in the pic.

Next year I am moving back to Scotland (yeah, I know, I know... its cold, its wet, there's salt on the roads...) and I am taking the mini with me (of course).

I'll probably be using RoRo to Southampton cos of cost (unless everyone tells me its a REALLY bad idea) but if anyone knows any companies to recommend or any handy hints to think about I'd really appreciate it!

ring up "Specific Freight", they're in O'Riordan St near the airport - they do a lot of car transport and know the score.... you'll find them in the white pages

I can't for the life of me remember who I dealt with there, but they were all helpful

Bumblebee, you must be really attached to that particular Mini, because they aren't short of Minis in the UK. I'm certain it would be cheaper to sell yours here and with the money you save on shipping buy a new one there. So much for that particular racial stereotype about the Scottish.

I am moving to the Netherlands in December and the removal companies are happy to stick a mini in the 40ft container with our household goods. The cost including the paperwork etc, depot to depot (ie I take it to Blacktown where they put it in the container, and pick it up from a Dutch depot to be determined) is about $2500. The rest of our stuff is taking up about 25ft of the 40ft container and is about $10k door to door.

hope that helps

cheers
michael

Thanks all... at the moment I am quoted about $2300 just for the RoRo (exc taxes etc) to Southampton and $3200 for 20ft container, but still looking around. I only have a few boxes to take so not much extra to put in a container.

I will check out the rego stuff for the UK for sure.

And yep.... I'm attached to the only mini I have had. Its done me very well for 12 years so far and well, familiar with all its little rattles and foibles...

better the Yellow Devil you know....

UK registration shouldn't be a problem just make sure you bring all the Aussie paperwork and there will be some tax to pay if you register it properly.

There are plenty of cars over here but its always nice to see something unusual, I used to have an Aussie Clubby myself.
