Hi Suffolk,
My UK assembled Mk1 has a woven harness and, as it is built Sept '66, it has a filter light.

Best regards
Al

Both my MK1's had the factory filter blocked light. In over 40 years I've never seen it come on. Yes the globes have all been OK.

How odd, Classic wiring looms reckon mk1 's' were woven....The MINI KING said the same thing! The loom place reckons all the ones theve seen were woven...interesting!!

This loom should have been taped in this Mk2, but it was woven instead (which I much prefer for looks IMHO). But still you get the idea from this picture of the original finish if anyone doesn't know what we're talking about....

If its any help, I'm 99% sure my "all original" Nov 65 Deluxe has a taped loom... maybe its what ever was in the parts bin at the time, cloth/tape/cloth/ tape/tape..? Assuming all Aus minis were made in the same factory..

Right, some people say they are taped, some people say they are woven, some people get into arguments over silly things!
When the Australian Cooper S came out they were woven (in line with other BMC cars of the same period)
Then they changed to taped looms (in line with other BMC cars of the same period) I don't know the date of the change.

Can we try to work out when BMC changed from woven to taped?

My 68 S has a taped loom. It is the original loom and has never been changed.

I think they changed over sometime in late 1965 or early 1966 . My 1967 Cooper S has a taped loom , its about October 1967 manufacture . My 1966 Mini Minor has its original loom , its also taped . Its fairly early production , around car number 500 ............... My 1964 850 has its original cloth covered loom

66 Morris 1100 taped
68 Cooper S taped
68 1100 Auto taped

I had a 65 1100 with woven.
The 66 and 67 Deluxes that I had were taped.

My guess....
Maybe early production used imported woven looms and when they got into full production they changed to local taped looms.
