Post subject: | buying a mini? |
hey guys, i've unloaded all my cars, and getting around on a bike at the moment, just need something to drive when i feel like heading out in thongs and a singlet instead of leathers. thought a mini would be a good, fun, cheap to run car? being a tall bloke...i'm hoping i'll fit in one haha. i dunno tho. would i be better off getting a newer one like this? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Leyland-Mini-Clu ... dZViewItem and converting it to manual?( if thats possible to the newer ones?, are they injected? any info?) or should i get something like this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0172966547 and be able to cart some stuff around? are the newer ones only 998's? or.... yeah, just looking for some feedback, opinions, anything really, much appreciated! |

You'd have to go into the 1990's I think to find an injected mini unless it's been fitted with late model running gear from a front cut . Now the only difference between a Leyland and a Morris mini are cosmetic (different front and interior) , they are both nearly all at least 30 years old so a younger one for less problems doesn't quite work . The other option of course is to go for an imported Rover mini that could have all the bells and whistles of a newer car . |

If your use to riding a bike you won't have much need for 4 seats so the van could be a good option. I also thing the van has more potential for customizing it to your style, whatever that may be ![]() Have a look at both cars in person, get them checked by the same mechanic, take em for a drive if possible. I don't know if this helps or not but I tried. And then if you still can't decide sell the bike and get both ![]() |

i'd go that van, looks good, i'd go clubby cheaper, more room under that bonnet and if your not a die hard mini fanatic you wont mind and still turn heads |

injection only came on 1.3/1275 engines. automatics are pretty rare. minis are a lot of fun, and pretty cheap to maintain, but they are old and do break which costs $ |

Should have no problem fitting in a Mini. My brother is 6'4" and fitted easly in his Mini. Also, the seats are very basic so are easily adjusted/modified. Pete |

Pete On that note I'm 6'1" and I don't even have the seat all the way back! I'm very comfortable and I don't have a steering column lowering bracket. If he is worried about fitting in go and have a look at a few mini's and have a sit in them (take them for a drive if you can) just so you know. |

Tall person brackets: I'm a shortarse and my seat is all the way back. It depends on the type of seat you have, but certainly you should be able to find a combination of seat and brackets that is comfortable for you. Just don't buy the van as you can't get the seats far enough back. |
