Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me about the Pre-engaged starter motor that MG Heritage spares sell?

Is it the one advertised on their website as :STARTER MOTOR PRE ENGAGE MINI REP LRS102

Can anyone recommend any other starter motors?? I need one asap.

That starter is an HMG815, it REPLACES the LRS102 (normal early Lucas Mini starter).

It's great, we put one in Mini Mad's Moke. No problems at all. Spins like a top.

I'll be buying one for my 1412 motor, soon. 8)

Yes they do. Take the red/white wire from your old solenoid and plug it into the new. And put the starter wire onto the battery terminal of your old solenoid. That's it.
The old solenoid is then just a terminal block. :wink:

Not really easy because the battery cable won't reach, and I doubt there is room on the new one for the other wires. So most people leave the old one there, it's not working so even though it's Lucas, it's now reliable. 8)
BTW you won't fit an S oil cooler in front of starter due to the solenoid position.

oh k, yeah didnt think about the length of the wires. And i dont need to worry about the oil cooler, i dont run one.
