That sometimes happens to me. I just put it in gear and give it a little nudge... fixes it and I have no idea why!

hey guys and gals.. came across a bit of an issue with the car. when i go to start the car all it does is make a "click" noise... so i figured it was my starter motor as it was on its way anyway,. relaced it with a known working one,... and still nothing,... so i tried to bypass the starter solanoid to see if its the isssue,,, and now i have lost all electrics? ? any more ideas? ? replace the solanoid? ? thanks in advance.. sounds like solenoid is buggered, or your battery is flat. i reckon first try charging the battery and cleaning the terminals on the solenoid |

you could have a dead short somehwere or your earth strap aint doing de earthing properlike or your battery posts need a clean or battery is flat - make sure the battery terminals arnt shorting againt the body |

If you got a "click" but no start the solenoid should be ok. If you got no electrics after trying to bypass the solenoid make sure you havent bumped a wire loose off the solenoid. While you're playing with it its probably worthwhile cleaning up the connectors on the solenoid to ensure good contacts. having said that, I'd say the battery is the original issue.

click happens to me sometimes... Pull the wires of the main power connector thing (where battery strap connects and the starter motor wire goes etc - thing on driver side of motor above clutch housing) pull the wires off this and clean the conections up, probably a bad connection. Edit: i think when above happened nothing worked so id agree with others said a dead battery - if constant clicking Brenton |

Yep - battery Put it all back together Tait, then either charge the battery and start it or jump start it. If with a charged battery you still get a click then clean the battery terminals. Mike |

If it is a constant ticking while trying to turn it over, I concur with the others regarding dead battery... |

even though you replaced the starter get a shifter onto the end and turn the shaft. my delux did this to me, new starter and still tick tick tick, then mattvan had a brainwave and bam, fixed proper |

check your fuses in regards to the no electrics.....if you jump the car and it fires up got a feeling its the battery.....time for a new one!! |

basic diagonsis. when u hear click on start up is either dead battery, earthing out somewhere, or ur start solonieds are playing up. 9 times out of 10 its a battery. if not then check the positive wire to the starter make sure its not shorting out anywhere. if not and the starter still clicks its starter. i had sorta same problem but what is was is that when i put my grill back on when i put one of the screws in i screwed straight through the starter positive wire. so it was earthing out. juz double check that before pulling ur car apart |
