Post subject:  Brilliant Mark II
Visited a fella this arvo with a stunning Cooper S MKII. Its a police special and is nearly ready to get back out on the road. Interesting front seat hold down/tilt lever arrangement like the clubbies (I think the seats had been lowered but not sure). Its around 11/71.

If anyone has one of these late MKII Coopers or a late K with the heater over on the drivers side - the wiring instructions would be appreciated (new loom going in so no previous reference to work from...long story)

Does anyone know how the fresh air vent for the heater was fed? Just the normal bit of convoluted Ag pipe look-alike stuff :?:

I have seen the overflow bottle before, it was an aftermarket thing "noverheat" comes to mind.

Did the heater have a fresh air intake? I know that the earlier types don't.

Those are some nice looking wheels but geeeeez they have alot of weight on them to make them balance! It is a beautiful looking car none-the-less.

who knows with the late cars, as they chucked all sorts of things in them, but..... same goes for being a cop car

washer bottle looks very aftermarket to me, as does the location of the compliance plate

no fresh air intake for the heater - whether it was the standard plastic heater, or the later small smiths one mounted in the centre - they just recycle the cabin air. The hole on the drivers side of the firewall had a cover over it.

The late Mark II like this had the washer bottle exactly like shown, although I'm not 100% sure the location is correct. I fitted one of these myself to my van.

There should be "tumble-dryer" pipe from behind the grille to the firewall, where it clamped onto an angled flange that screwed to the firewall. Another similar flange was on the insider of eth firewal and more "tumble-dryer" duct went to the heater inlet. There was no blanking plate on the firewall in the "Clubman" heater equipped K or S.

About 10 years ago a wreckers in Geelong had a late K with "clubby" doors. Unfortunately they had put a Honda on top of it, so it was completely stuffed. I took the washer bottle, heater duct flanges and the heater control panel. I know I used the washer bottle, but not sure if I still have the other parts.

Actually I'd like to get hold of another one of those washer bottles as I need a smaller one for the Moke.

hi guys. i have a 71 model mini k with lift up door handles, it too
has the exact same washer bottle in the same place. it had
clubman heater with a control mounted under the dash on the r/h
side of the steering column. 1 cable operates the heater tap the
other the flap for cab or demister with a switch for the fan in the
centre . as Bnicho says it too had that card board conveluted pipe
that went from the grill to the vent hole in the r/h side of the fire wall.
unfortunately its all dissmantled at the moment and i cant remember
how it was wired .
i'll try and figure it out and get back to you.

I'm not sure about this on Mk2's..I've only seen them with the blanking plate. I've seen the duct on early cars and it certainly exists for the Mini K engine bay heaters however..??

I'm 100% sure on this one, as I have seen five or six of them. Older Mark II (pre 1971?) with the non-clubby heater didn't have the duct, just the blanking plate. When they started to put in the Clubby heater (same time as the clubby doors) they fitted the fresh air duct.

the compliance plate is in the wrong spot should be on the back of the engine bay near the hydro bag (near the triangular support bit)
