Mick my 1962 850 had overriders, they all did.

The long numberplate frame would have gone with the introduction of the Mini Deluxe, Cooper S and Mini Minor in 1965.

I think the long number plates were gone before 1965 even.

I have a 63-64 Morris 850 with shorter number plate bootlid and plate holder. I also owned a 63 850 in 1970 that had small plates and it was an unmodified car.

I do remember seeing a mixture of long plated 850's and short plated 850's back then and being able to say CKD (or imported) and Aust manufactured.

Doc should remember - he is older than me.

Mike

I had a 'change over 850'. It was a 1965 with roll up windows and small number plate. This was original from factory.

I think that the 850s with the short plate and wind up windows were badged Mini Minor (and tagged YMA2S3)

1071S finished in 1964 (UK). Graham in aus has a 1964 UK 1275S, it's the last of the dry suspension ones.

They didn't make the short flap till 1965 so it would be vary hard for any earlier car to have been made with one.

64 850s had a short number plate flap......or at least the one I had did.

Imported cars had long flaps because the UK didn't do short plates.....

Cheers, Ian
