Victoria and Queensland have both run "All Mini Races" in recent years. Not a series....but damn fine anyway. I was lucky enough to o-ffish-i-ate at Historic Sandown a few years ago where they had a decent swarm of Minis and they put on a very entertaining show.

Then there was my failed attempt at trying to get an All Mini Race up and running in NSW a while back.....the less I say about that sad exercise the better....lots of interest...and that's about all!

Kiwis seem more likely to spend a load of cash on a car and then flog the guts out of it.. you should see some of the stuff that turns up at hilclimbvs etc dirt roads and all..

Guys and Gals,

If you want a blast, save your pennies and come to the Mini Fun Day which the Mini 7 boys run every year (around May) at the Lake Taupo circuit. If you were to bring your Mini (!) you can thrash it around the circuit or pay $5 and be taken for a few laps in one of the racing Minis. Most of them turn up and you can even go with the current, and 2 time, NZ Champ! You'll probably need to bring a few pairs of spare boxers as well. We all look forward to the day..... well the weekend and it's one of the first dates in the diary every year.

NZ is a treasure trove of old cars and obscure rareitys... minis galore and an almost endless suply of morris 1100 and 1300 (they are called 1300's over there) to loot for parts..
in my time there i owned some pretty interesting vehicles.
more than i can recall probably LOL
1942 chrysler pig... purple with big pink spots (sanded through the purple)
1947 chrysler windsor royal
1947 ford Jailbar pick up
1960 dodge dart pioneer bought this one totaly dismantled and in pannels or icecream containers of bitz and pieces... turned out to be an obscure canadian version with a 313 engine which i have never heard of b4 or after that..usa ones had 318's. had no manuals or instructions took ages to get together but was all there except the drivers seat.. did a tour of the south island using a couch from the lounge as a front seat when i first got it going.. might try taking a digi pic of an old photo later.
1958 dodge
V6 ford popular (self built)
V8 Vauxhall victor (2ltr model) self built
V8 MK4 ford zephyr (same 350 motor from the vauxhall. ..that thing was too crazy)
850 mini with various motors etc
singer vogue
singer gazzel
ford prefect
HR, HD. HQ holden
its funny to have americans want their pics taken with your car when they are on holidays cos they just dont get to see much or there old metal anymore... sad thing is now the yanks are catching on and pushing the market prices up and up.. and removing many special cars you wouldnt see on the road for daily anywhere else in the world..
