Post subject: | Damaged plug |
Have a look at the plug I pulled out of my #2 cylinder. The plugs are approx 2 years (but only 5000miles) old, the type is NGK BP6ES. I had a look at them approx 9 months ago (yeah too long I know but the car was running well) and they were fine afaik. To me this seems like moisture damage causing rust and crumbling ???because of water in the cylinder??? Any other suggestions? ![]() |

can also be bad fuel and rust can also be galvanic or sacrificial effect caused by breakdown in the insulator - any cracks in insulator? |

No evidence of damage to the insulator. |

So if a spark plug with a damaged insulator can result in sacrificial electrolysis perhaps I should mount some broken spark plugs in the front floor pans to save the floor. ![]() |
