Going by how loud motorbikes are I would guess that yes it is illegal.

Having said that I have seen a mini with a motorbike muffler on it. Looked nice for a muffler too. I saw it featured in a Mini World a while back so you can imagine what the rest of the car looked like. [now where is that vomiting emoticon?]

Perhaps you should buy a Honda Civic? Go down to your local Ricebarn. They have those things there.

I have a motor-bike like hot dog before my muffler if that counts... Both non restrictive. Makes the car nice and quiet :)

As long as the noise level is legal there is no reason why you couldn't.

Mini's are actually allowed to be louder than motorbikes (96 vs 93 dB I think?) so there would be no problem.

Not my 4 cylinder, 998cc, 20 valve, 140 HP Yamaha YZF-R1!

It blows me away how quiet they make these bikes considering the length and bore of the pipe and the power they put out.

The stock pipe was sooooo quiet it sounded like a hyundai. That had to change.

Yeah but doesn't that have an EXUP valve?

At the end of the day, it is irrelevant what the muffler is off. Your car will be legal as long as it passes sound tests - usually 96dB at 4000rpm or three quarters of where maximum HP is achieved, +/- 250rpm.

But of course, take a muffler of a VTR1000 it is not necessarily be as loud or quiet on a Mini, as they are different engines altogether.

i swear i remeber reading on the adr site that they have the thing that reads the DB 1 meter from the ground and 10 meters back and then they try it from 10 meters either side

+ why would you want to fit it anyways there are cheaper cannons(supercrap were selling them for $70) and if they are going to change the noise restriction level down to around 90db for pre ADR cars and 80 DB for after ADR cars its only going to make it stand out, a little to much

Where did you hear this? I have no knowledge of them changing exhaust laws, especially considering how difficult it is to retrospectively change ADRs.
