I'd say that the clutch is.

The line out of the brake master doesn't look like it is bent quite right.

Hmmm, could be the brake actually. I believe that plastic type was fitted to Australian cars from late roundnoses (1969) up until late Clubmans with twin circuit brakes (1976).

The brake master is original -- K's got the big plastic reservoir type.

I have seen many K's and as far as I know that is original configuration, plastic brake, tin clutch. I recall Pops having that configuration and he was bog std.

there would have been a mix of all sorts of things until the factory ran out of stock of the tin ones when they were being phased out....

you've gotta imagine they ran out of brake ones first because they were going into 'matics as well

Definite possibility. My mid-'70's K has two plastic masters, and they're original..

[edit] This car's a '70 too, but don't know whether early or late. Could have been changed...

Yep with BMC there will always be some variance. I believe that they should have had either both tin tank, or both plastic tank. But BMC is hardly gonna throw out their excess stock of tin tank clutch master cylinders just because the spec sheet says it should have a plastic tank one.

My December 1970 K has 2 plastics, and I believe they are correct.
Interesting though that this car has done so few miles and has had a changed cylinder?

Well I would argue a car that age, if it has low mileage, is more likely to need a replacement master/slave cylinder, they tend to seize up when not used.

not that it makes a scrap of difference of course.... from this angle it looks like a nice little car!

My sister had a K in the 70's and it had 2 plastic reservoirs.

Also it has a Matic heater. I once looked at a Mini K for sale and it too had the Matic heater, but I think that was added at some stage, so too with this car.

K would have had standard inside mounted heater, yeah?

Our 70 K panel van had tin brake and plastic clutch. As the thread says, BMC/Leyland used up what stocks they had at the time.
