Get a heavy mate or two and, as mad said, a pointy screwdriver.
When the holes line up just enough for the screwdriver, put in in and lever the rubber
around.

Hi everyone Just putting the motor back in my car, and put new engine mounts on it, but now cant get them to line up with the holes. Any advise? Tricks? Ryan |

i bolted loosely 1 side up, and teh otehr side pretty well feel straight in, with the help of a screwdriver |

Can be a sod but are you useing engine mounts tghat have th nuts already welded on. We have found these to be thicker than the orginals. Passistance Screw driver a weighty freind to stand on the engine and a few words |

The aftermarket mounts with the captive nuts are too bloody thick. 
I use Rover/originals where possible. |

I have found that the mounts without captive nuts were too thick, making it more difficult than it should be. I used one with captive nuts, which was slightly thinner and it lined up easy. |

the new ones i got were too thick as well. just learn some new swear words and be persistent. |

If you compare thicknes of old mounts with new.... The ones I had were visibly thicker..... ...went to Authentic Rover ones and fitted without any hassles... Good luck... |

all done! Took a while, but i got we got there. They were the ones without captive nuts. Thanks guys. |
