Looking to fit a smiths rev counter to my mark2 cooper s. Have done a search online and there seems to be a few to choose from. Does anyone know if a smiths rev counter was standard on any model mini and if so what model number gauge it was?

No Mini ever had a rev counter standard, including Cooper S.
Smiths is the most popular aftermarket one for period correctness, but there are other good/better ones. And worse, of course.

The Authi 1275C and GT both had a Smiths rev counter as standard.

Back in the 60's it was very common for Cooper "S" to have an aftermarket Smiths tacho (because there were very few alternatives) mounted either on the column or on a bracket hanging from the top of the dash. I'd vote for one on the column, with one of those spun aluminium cases that was an option from Smiths. Very much in keeping with the 60's when very few cars had tachos standard.

I think it's RVC1006-00CB

You will find a pic of the 10000rpm model here. 8000rpm one is the more common one. Don't know anything about this vendor, just found the pic.

The 10,000 rpm ones seem to cost more as well.
At least in the Mini Spares catalogue.
