Is there any option to upgrade R/H park single speed wiper systems?

Is it possible to adapt the later 2 speed motors (or conversion using other car wiper systems) to current setup?

Would love to hear of any mods other members may have done...

I live in an area where there is plenty of rain, the deluxe will end up the daily driver, and I wouldnt mind upgrading the system to give a bit (well a hell of a lot) better sight during times of heavy rain....

This may help. Since yours is RH park it most likely has the original UK rectangular body wiper motor in single speed form. I'm told that Jaguar saloons of the 60's used a 2 speed version of this wiper motor so it could be worth checking out at your friendly Jaguar wrecking yard. Don't know if the wheel boxes, drive cables etc are the same. You will also need a 2 speed switch and wiring etc.

Simple fix, cost about 10 bucks.

Get some RAIN X.

Thanks Ron, will follow up on that....

Cheers Hanra, RainX is good, but not that good....this place just about has the highest rainfall for NSW....and when it comes down you know about it....

Jason, you can get variable speed wipers with the single speed motor, all you do is wire a variable resistor in series with the field winding.
I have one here working, can't remember the value of the resistor but can measure it tomorrow. It was the one out of my spare Fiat 124 sport...
You can also fit a Clubby 2 speed motor, but with the old early model wheelboxes you get a 180° wipe area.... we've got one like that too.

2 speed Rover mini wiper motors come in Left and Right parking.

Thanks Doc, do they end up any quicker with the variable resistor, or just allow you to slow them down?

Steve, Do you guys get any of them in at all?

Adding resistance to the field speeds them up, although torque reduces a little. Not a problem when the screen is flooded and you really need more speed. 8)
I used a variable resistor, but you could run a fixed one and a 2 position switch like I did 30 years ago.

And they work well. If you do get a Rover setup try and get the wiring connector for the motor at the same time otherwise check out the wreckers for Jags and grab one from there.
You could also consider changing the steering column at the same time so you have the wiper switch up on the column for added convenience.

A neat trick that an auto electrician showed me on a deluxe is to tweak up the voltage slightly. Basically he adjusted the voltage regulator up to its maximum specified range. It had a surprisingly worthwhile effect on the wipers and probably charged the battery a little better. You wouldn't want to exceed the maximum recommended voltage though.
