Post subject: | Heater Qustion |
Just got around to refurbishing the heater the Doc sold me - one that lives in the engine bay and ducts the warmed air into the cabin. (Mini K ?) anyway there was the remains of some foam on the two flaps as well as around the body sealing the core from the air bypassing the core. Question relates to the foam on the flaps - does it have to be all over - or would just around the edge to create a seal be sufficient? - And as foam perishes in time would thin neoprene do the job? |

Dave I just redid mine with THIN (1/8"?) foam from Clark rubber. Don't make it too thick or the flaps won't shut. ![]() <edit> easiest way is cut the foam bigger than flap, glue it on with a bit of contact cement, then trim the edge off with a blade. |

The one on my old mk1 heater went all around. Ie it was just a square of foam pasted on. Can't be certain that it is the original job however. |

![]() Looks new with a coat of matt black core all cleaned out and pressure tested all put back together - wish I could say the same about the rest of the car - Now all ya need is a fan for it... so you have air in traffic. Get thee to Bias Boating Warehouse and grab an Attwood 3" bilge blower. It sits nice inside the pipe adaptor on firewall. ![]() |
