Anyone catch the sarcasm.
Eh i'm just annoyed. I really hoped to have my mini registered today so I could drive it.
Got a roadworthy and this mini is going to be on the road for the first time in at least the 7 years that I've owned it.
It is in camberwell with me at work and i had hoped to nick down to vicroads to get it registered. So I ring up and spend 40 minutes on hold only to be told that despite what their website says camberwell don't do vehicle inspections. So I ask about Burwood. 17th of December. The only option is Oakleigh tommorow afternoon. Gotta pay $33 for the priviledge of an inspection that I don't want and gotta go out of my way to get it done.
Seems also the engine has been changed at some point so i gotta go get a stat dec from the police saying I got that engine with that car when I got it.

So, Another day to wait. (The car is in camberwell and will need to get home tonight and back to camberwell tommorow so it can get to oakleigh so it is doing a fair bit of driving anyway)

I think it's general consensus now that Vicroads should be taken into a small room and shot repeatedly. Although if its any consolation I've been waiting since April to get mine registered, so if you manage to get it done tomorrow it will be very well done.

Good luck!

Argh... April. What has happened there?
Look an extra day isn't much but it seems forever when you have thought you were one day away for about the last 4 weeks. I can taste the rego. Mmmmm $575 dollar worth or Rego...

If your car has had an engine change I am pretty confident that your gonna run into problems. I bought mine from sydney in June and sent it to vicroads a week later. Engine number problems due to two engine numbers being stamped on top of each other. Had to get Vic Motor Theft squad onto it. Finally got inspected by them in October and registered about a week after that. so I was waiting for about 4 months.

Just went through all this as well, I ended up going to Geelong from inner south west!

Still, it's better than dealing with the NSW version, they will bring tears to your eyes...

It's variable, but I find if you drown the knobs they employ in paperwork they eventually give in.

All I can say is when you buy any old car get as much detail about previous rego as possible before you approach VicRoads for rego. If you can't prove it's been previously registered in Oz (even if it was made here!), then they assume it's a dodgy import/rebirth and send you to the blokes with the rubber gloves... :(

Then get a letter back saying you have one year to book a full year road worthy.

Because it requires disc brakes you MUST go in for a full road worthy then a number inspection. Changing small bores should only require a number inspection. SA uses engine numbers identify cars so inspections are required.

Went through similar fun and games in recent times.....
... and doesn't seem to matter where you are ...
..... they like to find "something" to knock you back on.... :(

But stick with it ...
... and 7 years off the road getting mine registered again and being able to drive around ..
.... it's just great ...
.... puts the biggest smile on your face ... :D :D :D
...... and waves and smiles from lots of other people....
........ all the hassle is quickly forgotten !!

Good Luck
