. But in general your roof lining is held under the windscreen and rear window rubbers so those (the actual glass) would have to come out for the removal and a reinstall to be done properly. The lining is strung on horizontal ribs so its a matter of sliding it back carefuy and gradualy taking it off those ribs.
You are both right re the roof lining.
In 1964 BMC Aust went from the UK-style 2 piece slide in type, to a 1 piece one supported on bows.
re the 2 cardboard thingys, I got mine from Mini Classic years ago. They came as part of the 1 piece roof lining kit.
