Howdy. Lots of threads about central locking on mini's. I just fitted central locking in the clubby. Easy job guys. No idea about roundies, but in a clubby there is a touch of cutting, a touch of drilling for the screws and thats it (wiring of course) The motor sits directly behind the door handle. Then the steel rod comes out 90deg then another bend 90deg to make it line up with the standard rod on the door (the lock one) the clamp holds them together... presto. Fits nice, works like a charm, took about an hour for both sides. Let me know if you need more detail if your fitting to your cars. Cheers, Pete. |

Hey Pete, i was hoping to do the same thing on my leyland, but was wondering if you needed to buy a specific central locking assembly or if you could use any one of them. I was also reading your topic, and was wondering if you could give me more info on how to install it, for example the wiring and what components for have to pull out, if required. Also do you have any more pictures of it. Cheers Sav |

Do what Angelo did in his 4EFTE Mini, put shot bolts thru the B pillars into the doors.

I can take more pics, but not much else to take pics of  Its all in already
Here are the details. Central locking kit that I have came with 5 wires on the master and 2 on the slave. All you need is basically 2 wire - +ve and -ve You wire them in with a fuse into the live wire (live when car is completely off) There is a module which controls things and has a loom basically.... the loom has about 20wires in mine, you can hook it up for multiple doors, brake pedal (so if you hit brakes it locks automatically) fuel cut off, etc, etc ,etc. I just hooked up the power feed and negative... then the door motors and thats it. Didnt hook up to blinkers or lights or anything. So, the wiring is quite simple, the mounting of the motor: The connecting rods come with it, and are straight. You basically put a 90deg bend in it, then another 90deg bend the other way. 
Yellow is my inner door. Black is the existing door locking rod/bar and handle Blue is the motor/actuator Red is the connecting rod from motor to the existing rod Green is the clamp you see in the pic So, you want it to run parallel with the current door locking rod. When power is given to it, it pushes and pulls (depending what its doing) This will push the connecting (RED) rod and because its connected by the clamp (GREEN) to the standard door lock (BLACK) it locks and unlocks. Writing it is alot more complicated than it really is. Peter |

so the motor sits right beside the door lock/handle on the inside of the inner door skin? the actuator doesnt hit the glass? |

Motor is directly behind the door handle and toward the hinges. Doesnt come anywhere near the window... your 1/4 window is above it... heaps of room there. Pete. |

I assume you have your door cards back in and it is all still working well? I've got new custom thicker door cards in mine and the mechanism is tight at the best of times. That clamp you have their on the lock rod I think would foul against my door cards. Have you had this problem? |
