Just thought it would be a good gauge to have to see how many members think that their car (mini - overall opinion if you own more than one) is reliable or not.

So my car has problems then? I've only been stranded on the side of the road 2 times in the past 5 years in my car (using it as a daily). One time I thought it was the fuel pump (turned out to be crud in the tank) and the other was the accel cable snapped - fixed that one though.

It doesn't feel like it has problems to me; my car must be just that much better than a normal mini

Will let you know after I drive it off the boat in Melbourne and head to Adelaide via Mt Gambier in early Jan. That should test it's reliability. 8)
But so far it's been great since the rebuild.
Peter.

Mines has actually failed on me once. The 12v supply to the ign coil was intermittently making contact inside a spade crimp connector where its plugged onto the pos on the coil. Every time i accelerated the motor would rock ever so slightly, causing the connection to go open circut. Was a quick fix though.

Th only problems i've had with mini's (K and an S), that actually affect driving it every day are flat tyres, and that is over a span of 5 years.

My S does currently have busted exhaust, but it's still drivable with the exhaust tied up.

 my main problem is running out of fuel (sender doesn't work  , hasn't for years and i will get around to replacing the tank with a later sender unit one day :) ) untill about 2 months ago when the rod bolts let go near the hay shed at philip island at very high rpm...(not bad for 10years of very enthusiastic driving)...was a good excuse to make the new motor "more fun"!!

Mine is a freak, everything works fine, starts first time, and there are no oil leakes, runs like a dream, smooth as silk to drive.
