I dunno much about this book, but i found it at a second hand book store today and bargained the guy down to 10 bucks.

The book seems pretty good so far, and over my head in alot of places, but it's always nice to build up a collection of information regardless.

So, I thought i'd just come and boast about my find. Is it regarded as a decent book?

Yep it's Vizards older book but does cover the car- suspension, clutch, transmissions- a bit, not just the engine.

His later book is " Tuning BL's A series Engine", covers the engine in more depth but has nothing at all on suspension, gearboxes etc.

I have both.

Great over all book and good to read atleast twice and you will refer to it a number of times.
The Yellow Bible as drmini in aust has mentioned is the next one you should look out for..Its bright Yellow and a Lot thicker  and hard cover

Also get yourself a Haynes book also

Yes the dissertation was `enlightening'...

Another book I find pretty good is "How to power tune the BMC/BL/Rover 1275 A series engine", by Des Hammill.
There's a version written for the 998 as well, it also covers how to fit a 1275 head on... 8)
There are various errors in both but we could now say the same (shock, horror) about Vizard's yellow book...

Oooh, Please tell. I take pretty much what Vizard says as gospel...

I am not going to diss the man on here in detail but there are various errors and mistruths in it, according to those who helped obtain his data...

If it's one opinion against another then I agree it might not be best to wave it around in here (you know what they say about opinions ) - but if we're talking factual differences that can be verified, then I would have thought this was the entirely appropriate place to discuss it. Saying "I know stuff but I can't/won't tell you" might risk sounding a little precious

It is info that came from a well known Mini tuner in the USA, but as it's via a 3rd party I won't expand on it here.
It's a good book though, let's leave it at that.
