got a block and tackle. Run the block and tackle from the roof and take the free end and wrap it around the pipe and haul away - will increase the mechanical advantge without increasing the length of the pipe

No - I need a bigger pipe to fit over a bigger breaker bar - the smaller diameter one I'm using is bending without undoing the nut plus I'm starting to split the end of the pipe

While you stand on the pipe get someone to hit the pipe near the socket with a hammer.

Glad to help! It is a trick that should be spread around.
I invented that on the side of the road one night with truck wheel nuts and a short bar. The hard bit was hitting the bar while standing on it!

If you have access to a decent rattle gun get that onto it. The impact does wonders with stuck nuts.

Not to mention introducing stress faults into gear teeth that can cause fractures later down the track :?
