I just went and bought a replacement Tie rod end. Went to two spares places, both had the same part listed as the correct one.

The one I had on there was pretty basic, but the one I just bought is pretty nice.

It has a grease nipple underneath and looks to be more solid.

Brand is - QH
Part No. is - QTE179R

Is this the correct replacement part ?

I would think so. QH is a good British brand and they makea lot of parts to suit Minis. The ones with the grease nipple are better because you can grease them unlike the other type. They usually look stronger than the usual type.
The part number looks like it would be the right one. TE179R is the usual part number and I guess the QH has just added a Q to make it their own.

The grease nipple impressed me, small things like that make the difference.

I went back and bought another one, so now I have two good ones.

Just make sure that it fits properly.

1) Make sure that the taper fits into the hole properly.
2) Make sure of the length.
3) Make sure the thread is the right size.

I was just looking on the net and found that the UK number for the QH joint is QR1072S.
I am guessing that yours is possibly Australian made using the Australian part number. :? Just make sure it fits.

Original Oz `Dufor' brand tierod ends for the 1961 Morris 850 had grease nipples.
Nothing much changes does it...

I took the old one with me to compare, and all the important bits line up. From centre of the cup to the end of the assembly, is the same length as the original. The thread looks to be the same width and depth. The hole appears to be the same diameter.

The only difference is the thread on the piece that swivels, but you get a new nut with it anyway. Has a much larger thread is shorter.

I guess I wont really know until I get home.
