Is it a standard flywheel? Or an aftermarket lightened one?

Assemble the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel using the three 3/8" (9/16 Head) bolts to hold it all together. Only do them up finger tight.

Ensure the splines of the clutch and the splines of the primary gear are clean. Use a little bit of graphite powder or the little bit of grease that comes in some clutch kits to prevent seizure etc etc.

Slide the entire assembly on to the crank and make sure the clutch slides nicely onto the primary gear.

Turn the flywheel until the keyway in the crank and flywheel line up. Fit the bolt/ locktab and the locating plate. It should slide a fairway onto the taper of the crank and pull up a little more when you torque it up.

If you have a little of fine emery tape lightly polish the end of the crank if it has some burrs or anything that might prevent it from sliding on nicely.

It shouldnt be anything too hard to fix. Just persist it with it - it is more likely to be an alignment issue.

Matt

They are all the same dimensions on the shaft taper (1-1/2" shaft) except early 850s which were 1-3/8".
