Hi, I need a bit of welding done on my mini and was looking for someone who can wield a mig or tig to help me out. I am in northern melbourne but can take it anywhere (esp gippsland) can pay in $$ or brewski's. Any ideas? |

Can you get the car to Geelong??? The guy who did the welding on my daughters mini did a brilliant job and was very reasonable too. If you are interested please phone me. I've PM'd my number to you. |

I gots a spot welder... Training can be performed over a very short cup of tea and a couple of hits on a piece or two of scrap metal. It's very simple to operate, any monkey can do it. Give me a yell if you have a complete panel to replace, all you need is a grinder and a bit of time. And I'm a lot closer than Geelong if that helps and isn't too vague on the WWW. |

Nah, that stuff gives you cancer of the sphincter I believe. ![]() It does look like patching work, but thought I would throw it in there for thought anyway...I just had an hour of fun fashioning modifications to a factory radio box for the LS using the spot welder and my butcher's apron. It's getting a hi-tech AM and FM wireless care of Strathfield's boxing day sale, no more cat whisker radio for the LS! |

Hey thats not serious, you've done the best with the rust converter. None of it looks structural. Best to now sand back to bare metal and start with a high fill primer putty to fill the pits and then go from there. Any rust converter not sanded off that sits in the pits is ok. The couple of holes I would lead fill (tin, plate tack, peen, sand paint!) If you weld you need to treat the underside of all your weld work, properly done is a big job. |
