Post subject:  diffs

anyone got a good site or document on diff gearings. I am getting to putting on the diff on my gearbox, and dicovered i didn't keep my pinions seperate, so now i don't know which pinion goes with which crown wheel! yes yes i should be more careful and pay more attention, but my mind was on other things. Help would be apperciated.

Cheers

For A series diffs.. NOT A+..
Part Numbers are marked on LH side of crown wheel, between bolt holes:
22A411 18/62, 3.44:1
22G940 17/62, 3.647:1
22A401 17/64, 3.765:1
22G340 16/63, 3.938:1
22G101 15/62, 4.133:1
22G370 15/64, 4.267:1
22G443 15/65,4.33:1

Pinions are interchangeable if same tooth count, crown wheels are not.
ie a 17T pinion will fit both a 3.647 and a 3.765 crown wheel.

I usually tie the pinion onto the crown wheel or diff centre, with a cable tie.. 8)

thanks mate
i know it has been asked for before but suggestions for a slightly longer gearing, better for freeways etc. don't want it to be completly draging it's bum taking off, but lower at the top would be good.

Cheers

OK you can go taller by using A+ gears, as PAIRS. Don't mix with the A series gears above, tooth helix angle is different.

DAM2806 wheel, DAM 2808 pinion, 19/61, 3.211:1
DAM6327 wheel, DAM2808 pinion, 19/59, 3.105:1
DAM5925 wheel, DAM5927 pinion, 20/59, 2.95:1
TCB10004 wheel, TCC10001 pinion, 21/58, 2.76:1

BTW all this info is in Mini Car Clinic catalog.

3.1 is supposed to be good, if you find a set.
