Between seasons I always store the rubber covered up and off the ground in the dark and dryness of a shed. I don't know if it actually does any good, but it certainly won't do them any harm.

hey, i just bought 2 new tyres for my leyland (Dunlop D93J), and i don't want to put them on the car until i get the other two, i also want to use these tyres to race at my local hillclimb next year. So i'm wondering, what can i do so that the tyres don't go hard and lose preformance, or if i do leave them for several weeks, will they lose preformance. Cheers Sav |

i cant see them going funny in a year or two??? ive got new yok a539's on my car...and its been sitting for ova a year now...still good...would suggest just keep them out of sunlite as this i would think would dry them out quilckly. so dry place and out of sunlite...would be my best bet. northern minis have lots of yok a539's in storage at there location....still good ...nothing wrong with them...cant see how they can loose performace in such a short time..unless you were silly enough to leave them out in the weather.....and let them go flat on the car were they can get flat spots etc........after all this i could be wrong.... |

i have have a set of 4 A539s aswell from and kept out of sunlight for nearly a year and still arn't hard set of tyres on the celica aren't hard either and they are nearly 2 year old and sitting in whether but they have done about 30k's in the last 2 years then again yours are a softer rubber |

New tyres have a protective coating on them to stop them from going hard in storage, it wears off after being driven on, if you like you can do as i do & wrap them in cling wrap of glad wrap, keeps them soft in storage. Doogie |

would i just block it up. Cheers Sav Pump them up (to the maximum pressure written on the side wall) so that they don't get flat spots. Move the car a tiny bit every now and then. |
