well, before putting in an auxiallary radiator i got everything else in my cooling system right.
i've had my radiator recored
new fanbelt
new thermostat 71C
new thermostat housing
new water pump
new temp sender
new overflow cap
new overflow tank

and well it was a pretty hot day down here today prolly 30-35 im not sure exactly my car got hot

i have a heater core here, perfect size and everything.
can i redirect the top outlet of the radiator to go to this heater core (which i will mount up the front) and then back to the thermostat?

Don't think that will work.
Usual method is plumb it between back of head and bottom radiator hose.
Works for me, with Deluxe radiator & 115HP (approx)..

Yer pipe from the Head #4 side and bottom radiator hose junction which these normal go to the heater in the cabin

so instead of the hose from the bottom of the radiator to the water pump. go from the water pump to the heater core, then to the bottom rad connection.


how do i go about doing that, the pipe inlet on the heater core is about half the size of the hose from water pump to the radiator.

also where should i mount the heater core? remembering i cant mount it to the grill or anything, coz that flips off

No, one hose goes from the back of the head (heater connection) to the heater, the other goes onto the heater connection on the bottom hose. Sounds like your hose is a plain one- get one with the heater connection on it.

So, you will basically have 2 radiators- one from the front of head thru thermostat to water pump, the other from the back of the head to the water pump.

Mine never overheats in traffic, and on the freeway it sits below N on the C-N-H gauge.

To mount it you will probably have to attach it to the clutch housing somehow, if you have a flip front or lift-off one.

umm..
just went and had a look. and i dont know where "the back of the head is"
coz at the back of the head i see extractors and an intake manifold. at the front i see spark plugs. so im guessing its the little pipe that goes from the bottom of the head (under the thermostat virtually) and connects to the water pump? there's a small hose there.
and on the other side (clutch housing side) at the top of the head i see a small plate covering something up at the top.
which is the outlet i want?

Front and back of motor are not same as front and back of car

Front of motor is where no 1 cylinder is i.e. where the rediator is
Back of motor is where clutch is. This is just a hangover from the days when all motors where longitudinal mounted not transvers like mini.

the little hose you are talking about is the bypass hose which allows water to circulate even when the thermostat is closed. you can put the return hose from a heater there (i have done it before), but it is a bastard of a thing to do and you have to take the head off.

The outlet at the "back of the head" is where a little oval sot of shape blanking plug will be at the clutch end of the head on yours. Replace this with the plate that has a pipe as part of it. connect hose from here to heater/aux rad inlet. then connect heater/aux radiator to the new bottom radiator hose with heater connection as part of it.
