The battery from my Mini has been sitting for over 2 years. If I top up the water and charge it, will it be OK?? Or do they "go off" after a while....? |

If you need to buy a battery get the biggest one that will fit (550CCA, or bigger) and ensure it has at least 12 months warranty. The cheap low warranty ones are crap. As I found out.. ![]() |

You could always get one of those Odyssey gel batteries. They are the best thing for a car that is not driven often, as their deep cycle properties are second to none. Normal lead acid batteries like to be charged constantly, and not go flat. The Odysseys are a bit exy tho. michael |

Just been looking at an article in an electronics magazine in my lunch hour. It was about a circuit for batteries that are left for long periods without use. Apparently batteries will sulphate if left standing without current being drawn and therefore loose capacity so even if you do recharge they won't hold the charge as well. The circuit provided a short duration (20usecs) high current burst every couple of minutes enough to keep it from sulphating and would take about 6 months to go flat at that rate - guess if you coupled it to an automatic charger it would keep the battery in top condition. |

ive got a battery name starting with A and its a 'maintenance free battery' two years warranty, no holes in the top (im guessing) so no fumes/spillage in the boot no worries $125 starts very well |

I have a DELKOR Calcium Battery and have had it for 2 Years and all maintace free and its a 520CCA and No problems. The One in my For only get used about every 2 Months and never gets a charge in the meantime and always works first go without any problem. Give them a go as we have one in every mini and my bros beenin there for more then 3 Years and still going strong. |

Anton, If you get an exide battery, get a premium or evolution series. For the extra $20 or so you get a much bigger battery(as Kev said 550cca) AND 2 years warranty. Alternatively odyssey or optima gel batteries are bloody amazing (im certain some have up to 5 years warranty...mgiht want to check that though). Only downsde is they are very pricey. As kev said dont bother with cheap batteries....they'll crap themselves in a manner of months. Its one case where you pay for what you get usually. |
