HI guys,
just a quick question. in the mornings my clubman takes a lot of cranking to start. The battery is really strong. but seems like fuel issue. as you can't smell fuel.

then for the rest of the day the mini starts in a bout 2 or 3 seconds. but the longer you leave it parked ie don't move it all day when you get to work it takes a bit longer.

Could the fuel pump be gone allowing fuel to drain back to the tank??

Put an electric pump in. Easy.

Also, make sure your choke is open completely when pulled right out.

When it's cold, pull the float bowl lid off and see how much fuel is in there. If the fuel pump is a problem, there wouldn't be any fuel in there. I would think it isn't the fuel pump, as fuel can't flow back out of the float bowl once it is in there, unless it is overflowing.

Personally I would check that the choke is fully operational.

I agree with Anto. It does not sound like a fuel pump problem. The carby should be full of fuel even after a week.
Now if the pip on the jet on the bottom of the carby is cracked or if the O-ring is leaking it could cause it to be slow at starting.

I also had this problem with my su, my problem was the choke wasn't working correctly.
As soon as i adjusted it correctly it started straight away when it was cold.
