firstly, yes i have searched, and came up with nothing,
i thought whilst im changing my oil i'll change my fuel sender, it no longer works, got a replacement off john at mini king awhile ago. what id like to know is, how do i replace it?

it's really really simple.... just by looking at it you should be able to work it out

There's a lock ring that you GENTLY tap around, then it pops out, you take the sender out of the tank, put the new one in, and tap the lock ring back in place. Easy

some advice... Don't refill the tank all the way, fill it up slowly, and check that the seal is sealing... my nice fresh paint got washed off when I filled mine up and it leaked, I had to borrow a shifter from the lady at the servo to tap the ring a bit tighter while the fuel happily leaked all over my nice fresh paint in my spare wheel well

From memory, you should have a bayonet fitting on the side of your petrol tank,

1, Disconnect battery
2, ensure fuel tank is empty or well below the height of where the sender enters the tank
3, remove the two wires from the sender
4, using a large screwdriver or a pair of multi grips, move the locking ring (I assume anti
clockwise) until it is free.
5, remove the sender and rubber seal from the side of the tank. Have a look at the float as if
it is full of petrol, this may be your problem and not the actual sender.

Assembly is the reverse order. Make sure the rubber seal is ok otherwise replace it.

don't do that.... you'll f*ck the ring, better to use a soft hammer or drift with lots of gentle taps on the little bendy bits

cheers for the info, im a noob at pretty much anything mechanical, and didnt wanna do something that people would think is easy and stuff it up, so id thought id ask and save any hassle.

i was told by my mechanic before he retired that it was the sender that was rooted, ive often thought it may have been the float, but ill take his advice over my own
