Post subject:  Metro disc uprights
Hi guys,

I've got myself a set of metro 4 pot calipers + hubs, the works and would like to fit ALL of it into the mini.

yes, i know its easy to fit them into standard mini uprights ( which I have by the way).. but I am finishing off a starlet engine conversion and am specifically keeping the metro hubs to get more king-pin angle.

plus.. the standard discs would fetch a better price with the standard hubs :D

The tapers on the metro ball joints are all messed up, i.e. they are bigger than original. :?

Has anyone had this issue before?
What has everyone done with this?
I am going to take them off and get the tapers re-machined to be idential to the original mini ball joint taper.
Would this be alright??

there are 2 types of metro ball joints, the older one, pre '85 IIRC, fits. the later one won't.
just get the correct ball joints

Yes, just order a set of "MK1" metro ball joints, they have the same taper on the pins as mini

Sounds like you have MK2 ball joints at the moment

Thanks for the info guys

Can you recommend me a place in Australia ( in SA preferrably) where I can buy 4 of these?.. how much would they be?

My neighbour works at a machine shop so I might get him to turn them anyway and see how it goes.. will sae a bit of money anyhow..

I wouldn't get them made, better off buying a set.
Buy good ones, cheaper balljoints in the UK have been known to shear.
