Hi all.... Just looking for some info from anyone who has fitted 13" wheels and tyres. I have done some measurements with a tape and it appears a 165/60 will just fit the rear, but a 175/60 will foul on the subframe. I really want to go 175 but need to know if anyone has fitted that size successfully. Thanks in advance for any info folks..

Cheers,
Michael

13inch wheel will need a 175/50/13 tyre

175/50/13 = 505mm rolling diameter

175/60/13 = 540mm

A 165/60 is 528mm rolling diameter. That will need guard surgury at the front.
Normally I'd say they a poofteenth too big but they might work.
Let us know how you get on, since 175/50s are tricky to get.
:D

Edit: If you are looking at the DZ02G (only 165/60/13 I noticed) then note its maximum rim width is suggested at only 5 inches.
Most 13" wheels are 5.5 inches wide.

I have been told the front of the front guards will need around 25mm cut from them, I could create the clearance for the larger tyres that end the end thats following is the worry. I know I cant get competition dunlops in the size I want but may go with 175 on the front and 165 on the rear. Have to think about that as an option.
It is a shame cos they almost make it.
Cheers

Michael

I wouldn't have narrower tyres on the rear of a mini. Could be asking for trouble.
Do you have rims already?

I haven't bought rims, that will be a little further down the track, a lot of other work building the car, I used to rally minis in the '70s and the rear tyres are not as important as the front end, there isn't much weight over them to have to control, in fact a little less traction is often desirable to get the back to move when you want it to.

How competition are we talking?

Yokohama do the A048R in a 175/50R13 which is a bloody good tire and suitable for tarmac rallies.

VERY competition.... Targa NZ plus other assorted events. The reason I am wanting to stick to Dunlops is because they are a major sponsor of the event, otherwise Yokos would be good.... may finish up with them anyway... I really would prefer the 175s... and the pic looks hot!!!
