My son has a Toyota Surf Turbo diesel Sporty Urban that he is about to sell. He took it in to get a "pre-roadworthy" check to see what needed doing beside the obvious cracked windscreen and a minor oil leaks. He was told he needed a new steering wheel as the cover was loose - like it bearly moves. Also the spot lights protruded infront of the bull bar by 1/2 an inch !! but the cruncher - the edges of the seats were "Too soft" ie the raised edges on the bucket seats - since when is that a requirement????? |

possibly because of the car it is. The surf thingys were one of the models that the motor industry lobbied the government to change the import rules about. they probably have a bad rep now |

i must share the shame of having owned one of these surfs,.. and toyota has a thing against the imports thats for sure had all sorts of dramas getting a head for ours. crap itself 2 days after buying.. almost every surf had had its head replaced and toyota had stock of them but made people wait like they had to come from overseas just to teach us a lesson about buying imports..(how dare we interfere with their proffits).. also there is a big dodgy stuff up in the dept that does tthe compliance things for these vehicles.. probably some pay off for an easy pass.. they are a bit sensitive about it.. upset them when i asked how the rear seatbelts got passed (as they dont work on many surfs) good luck |

Bastards aren't they. ![]() |
