Hi, putting in an electronic ignition and found out my restored smiths tacho wont work with it. Apparently you need an electronic conversion done to the tacho. Has anyone had this done and how much can I expect to pay? Cheers.

There's a small electronic board which is substituted inside the tacho. Last one I had done by Olympic Instruments in Sydney. About 120.

An unfortunate side effect is that the gauge is totally accurate once the mod has been done. One needs to learn to live with this...

Can you confirm, "the guage is totally accurate, you have to live with that", it sounded like that was a bad thing?

I was joking, it is a little hard to get used to a Smiths rev counter being accurate. It's a good thing.

I thought you were but thought I had better clarify. I will check if Roger Howard (Howard Instruments) does them. Cheers.
