Hi, I am interested to find someone out there that is running a mini in the Junior sadans??? My son is 8 YO and can start racing a fairly stock 1100 mini when he is 10. Since I am racing an Nb racer I thought it would be interesting to let him loose in the dirt. 
I am particulary interested in what motor combo used and whether or not they are compeditive against the G100 charades and the Carollas?? Anybody?? Minimad |

Matt Read (theminiman on here) is still involved in speedway I think , he certainly used to do enough of it , PM him and see who he can put you in touch with that would know . Certainly sounds like a fun way to get him involved in motorsport and teach some basic skills . |

Don't waste your time building a mini for speedway , the charades and corrollas leave them for dead . I went to the Australian Junior Titles at Albany in WA a few weeks back . Out of the first 6 cars , 5 of them were Charades , although some were disqualified for illegal motors etc . Build your son a Charade , the mini is too outdated nowadays . There were 2 minis there at the titles , they looked to be well set up etc but didnt do any good at all ( last in all heats ) .....cheers Edit :Junior State Title Holders : Qld : Charade , SA : Charade , Vic : Charade , WA : Charade ......current National Title holder : Charade (WA) |

I know of an ex-speedway Mini. Doors are welded on and everything. It's quite cool, except it's run down nowadays. Can't say much more about it though, the owner may not be happy.

I Think AJ just answered my question!!! The rules state that the motor must be standard up to 1100 cc but you can run any cam you want. Intake and exhaust manifold must be stock. BUT... the rules say that any head that fits the block (except multivalve) unmodified my be used SO i got excited and thought you might be able to run a 12G295 head..... but no...They go further to limit the mini by making the exhaust valve max size that of a 12G202 head 
AND you can only run an 1"1/2 carb!! Considering that the Charades are allowed to run 33mm exhaust valves ( mini 25.5mm!) and 36 mm intake valves (mini 29.26mm) No wonder the poor old minis didn't stand a chance!! Anybody got a cheap 3 cyl Charade for sale!!! Minimad |

Nah, not really,,, I`m tyring to have our own mini class & do a "Run what ya brung" type thing... as long as all the safety aspects are catered for then Kelly (Archerfield speedway) seems to be happy enough to indulge us It won`t be for a while tho as we`re still sorting out a few speedway minis, trying to get at least 10 ready because kelly wants at least 6 every sat nite to make up a class... so if we have at least 10 ready to go then surely we`d be able to keep 6 of them out there every sat nite,,, or maybe even every 2nd sat nite if the people want it that way. Good to see you getting your kid into it early,,, don`t give up, get him onto it & keep him on it. & speedway is probably the cheapest form of motorsport these days,,, go-karts are way dearer by comparison ,,,, & CAMS stuff , well they won`t let anyone race till they`re 14 or whatever it is nowdays... that sucks big hairy balls i reckon. |

Ha ha,, that was called "Bombers",,, there used to be 4 classes of them years ago,,, Std, Modified production, A-grade & the Astra saloons they all seem to have split up & gone into different classes these days, but i think you`re still allowed a passenger if you want,,, just ring & check with Archerfield speedway to find out for sure what classes let you do that tho It`s way better with a passenger, heaps more fun & you`ve allways got a helping hand if/when you need it in the pits loading the car etc

This is our supercharged 1426cc speedway brick running in the "Astra-Saloons" with my girlfriend in the passengers seat
& this is us ripping up the inside line underneath a methanol injected 350 chev powered commadore,,, dam fast little mini that one was,,, 1415cc full race stroker with my own cyl head work, a weber & 2inch ex system. 
They won`t let a van run in any of the classes these days ,, so yet again we need to run our own mini class,,, otherwise the poor thing will just sit here & never get used again
