In Watto's article on Police Minis in TME there was no mention of a siren being fitted to the MK 1, MK II and Clubman GT highway patrol cars used by NSW Police. I'm hoping some of our older Members might remember or know someone who does.

They did have magnetic fastening flashing blue lights that they afixed during a chase.

As for a siren - I really dont know, I did think that every police car ever made has a siren but if the mini's had one it was mounted discretely.

I was only young at the time but I think they had sirens. When dads mate pulled him up to ask the footy scores I recall a siren. :D

In 1969 the NSW Police Ss had no sirens, if they had one I would have heard it when accosted... :!:

I've been a good boy since...

Just spoke to my Brother who was at Mittagong 68 to72 and drove Cooper's. All had sirens (not the He-Haw ones) and they quite often disconnected the dimmer switch and hooked the siren to it. They then put a dimmer switch under the steering column. Not all did this, just those who liked to fiddle and make things easier for themselves. None had magnetic flashing lights, they came later on when GT Falcons came along but, all had a hand POLICE light. Hope this has been of some help.

Cheers Neil
