Hi all

I have just stuck my alternator back in and it doesnt appear to be charging.

I have tried moving the wires about (well the thick one anyway)

I have only 2 wires alocated for the alternator(a big fat one, and a smaller one)
as the 2 heavy brown wires have been soldierd together at the alternator and at the starter relay by the PO.

Why would someone do this?

I am planning on converting it to another type of alternator if I cant fix it.

Lastly is there a way of testing an alternator other than checking the V at the battery?

thanks guys

Provided its a internally regulated alternator you should ideally have the B+ charge wire, a switched 12v supply that comes from your ign through your charge IND light on the dash, and possibly a voltage sense wire that taps onto the B+ wire. Whats written on the alternator, B+, D+, F????
