Hi all, I stripped all teeth of second gear in the box going back some time ago, so i removed the donk and thought while its out i will clean up and paint the engine bay and tidy up all the pipe work etc, here are some before and progress pics for you, ![]() before ![]() engine out and prep started ![]() ![]() ![]() now I have to give second coat and clear it, then spray the engine and organise all the hoses etc. first coat |

Chaps, It certainly is engineered and has been now for over 8 years, it has a steel section in the cabin, 3mm box section all welded in place, to the dash panel, firewall, original cross section and the has braces to the wheel arches. Engineer siad it is probably stronger than original as the original cross section was not box section and was only about 2mm thick from memory[/quote] |

Well its been a bit since i completed it so i thought i better take some pics and post em up, its a bit dirty now but pretty much ok. still one or two things i want to do but you get the picture. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

ita amazing what a difference a coat of paint does?? engine bay looks fantastic great job...love the stainless pipe work too. allways wanted a metro turbo...northern minis has one for sale ....everytime i go there im tempted...but i still havent goten my moneys worth from my engine ive got now... if my engine ever craps itself il buy one then for sure... again great job... |

what paint and colour did you use on your engine block? Is it high temp stuff with a clear coat? Looks great! |

Pretty serious looking donk! My block/box/head 2 pac'd and has stood up to the heat fine. |

thanks all yeah same as Hanra has done, 2 pac same colour as body, use a little extra hardner and a bit extra thinners give it a gloss without a clear coat. Im pretty happy with it too. |

Excellent work Grant - especially the use of an intercooler and electronically adjustable ignition, just bin that std starter motor please ![]() Daniel |
