Post subject: | Installing rover alternator |
hi i got this rover alternator to replace my 15ac alternator in my clubby. what i need to know is if anyone knows what plugs are for what in comparison to the old one.. heres some pics. i have a red wire going to the terminal on the solenoid, a brown wire going to the solenoid also and a black with yellow trace wire going into the car, so i assume thats the altX one, the red is + and the brown is the other one. sorry they are taken on my phone so not 15000 megapixel quality. ![]() ![]() |

OK, the thin brown/yellow one goes onto the small bottom lug. [ind] The 2 thick brown ones go onto the 2 big lugs [12V+] If that 15AC has an external regulator (most with that particular body do not) you can disconnect it. The brown/green wire [F] is not now used. |

my colours are different, would that be for me red and brown going from the big lugs to the solenoid, and the black yellow one going to wherever it goes from the small lug? cheers dr |

yes. the black yellow you have is actually brown/yellow (it's old and gone dark). |

Sorry no idea. The Marelli one on my 1969 Fiat was 55A, so I'd guess more than that. |
