Hello all. Here is a Noob question. I took the wheel off this morning to remove a stone from the stone guard  , and i notice when the wheel was off that there is a bit of play in the disk drive assembly. It's moving a bit but not too much.
Also the big nuts (Front Hub Nut???) that hold everything together seem to be a bit loose, is it suppose to be like that or should the CV nut be really tight?? Help, please, dont want to kill myself

The hub nut on disk brakes should be done up to 150ft/lbs, which means yours is a long way undone. Does it have a split pin through it? When you mean movement, you mean you can grab the disc and pull backwards and forwards (like removing the wheel and putting it back on) |

The wheel nut tightens the bearings up so thats why there is play! so tighten it up! quick!

Yep it has a split pin. It doesent really goes backwards and fowards more side way, but again i dident try to pull it
Off to have a better look

Ok had a good look! I could remove the nuts with my bare hands
Tight them to 120psi or as close as i could get with making shure the split pin could go back in. Now, the steering is not ratteling anymore  , could this have been the cause?

Yep, that would do it, cos the wheel is almost directly connected to the steering wheel. |

Henry, you need to tighten that hub nut more, 120 is not enough. Tighten nut to 150lb/ft torque, then MORE until the pin will go in the next slot.

This reminds me I must do that to mine once I get either the engine in or the wheels on the ground properly

Doc, One would think with the nut being that loose for a while and the fact the bearings werent seated against the races as per design, that the bearings might need to be inspected, and perhaps replaced as a matter of caution. Bearings flog out super quickly when they have a chance to move away from the races. At the very least removal, inspection and repacking! Cheers, Tricky |
