finlay purchased a 1Kg 1A:10B:E Metal braket Fire Extinguisher and wondering where those that have one has mounted it.
Thinking safty and not forgetting its in a daily drive

All mine have been on the front of the crossmember that the seat bolts too , I haven't had a problem with it there and even in the event of a roll over , if it came loose (make sure the bracket is good) it is trapped between the floor , seat and your legs . It could come out and hit your head but there's more things to keep it there than there is on the firewall or floor . |

They sit there nicely and don't seem to get in the way of your feet , give it a try and see what you think . |

That's where I put mine too. Ash complains about it because it is where she put's her feet (but anyone that isn't a leprechaun shouldn't have any problems  ).
I made my bracket out of 3mm thick, 25mm wide aluminium. I even polished mine in the end so that it looks better. I can take some pics when I get home if you like. It is pretty easy to make the bracket up though. After I put it in, I yanked on it as hard as I could and it didn't move, it is nice & secure and doesn't seem like it would break too easily. |

I have a smaller 600ml extinguisher, again, mounted on the front of the passemgers crossmember. Quick and easy access, and not in the way of anyones feet.

Where is that connected to doc? Where the door strap screws into the wheel well kinda area? |

Interesting, I bought one yesterday and was wondering where to put it too. If it goes where the seat is mounted, do you mean in front and if so can you still lift the seat? (MK1) |

Yeah, I put mine at the front and I can still move the seat just as far (touches the windscreen too, no worries). It is easily accessed and you don't really notice it there. |

I've always put mine either under my (driver) legs in front of the seat as described by others, or on the kick panel like the Docs picture, but I put mine on the drivers side. For a daily driver I prefer the kick panel because I think it's easier to get at both while sitting in the car and from outside. There is plenty of room inside the wheel well for the bolts and a spreader plate. You may kick it the first couple of times you get in and out but you soon learn to avoid it. |

PLEASE make sure you mount them securely. They can be so dangerous if they break away from their mountings. I can't remember who, but a Celice driver lost his jaw in the 80's when the extinguisher cleaned it off for him. I too would mount it on the floor/crossmember under the knees of the passenger. |

ive got mine mounted behind the handbrake wedged between the two seats, in a crappy plastic holder from....you guessed it. doesnt get in the way at all, fairly easy access. |

It's bolted thru the wheelwell with bolts and nyloc nuts. I can reach it OK. I had one on the front of the crossmember once but I reckon this is better. It's out of the way too.
