Hello! I never thought to do this before, I also kinda forgot I had so much info... lol I have the original service manual that came with Mr Hanky when he was first purchased... just curious that based on the numbers as to when he was made in comparison to when he was sold.

serial no. YG2S7/4283
engine no. 1001/4836
model. Clubman Deluxe
reg no. RUA-539 (different rego when I bought him obviously would have changed when he migrated to Melbourne with the second owner me being the third)
date purchased. 29/6/72
owner. Mrs N. J. Buttrose (was typed Douglas, crossed out and handwritten buttrose)
Address. Flat 4. 15 Kyre Ave. Kingswood. S.A 5062
(and a phone no... lol)
Dealer: Borgelts Motors Pty. Ltd. 144 Magill Rd, Norwood. S.A
Dealer Code. 420101
Anyone in adelaide able to shed light on this?
Plus a whole heap of service tickets really cool but the pricks didnt fill out the date on most of them... latest date found 11/3/87 tickets in a weird order ...
anyway any info really appreciated it'd be interesting to know... :D

Looking at the numbers (which I love doing!) tells me a bit but it probably means very little overall.

The serial number YG2S7/4283 tells me that it is a Mini Clubman.
Y = Country of manufacture = Australian
G = engine size = 1100
2S = body = 2 door saloon = Mini
7 = variant number 7 = Clubman
4283 = car number 4283. The first car is alway number 500 so yours is the 3783rd Clubman made.

Engine number 1001/4836 tells me that it is a Mini Clubman engine.
10 = 1100cc
01 = Mini Clubman
4836 = engine number 4836. The first engine is always 1001 so yours is the 3836th Clubman motor made.

I am not sure what the "Clubman Deluxe" should mean. I would guess that there were two levels of trim in the one model, maybe they were all "Deluxes" It is one of those mysteries.

The date purchased 29/6/72 seems to me like the car may have sat around for a while or sales on Clubmans were slow. They started making Clubmans in mid 71 and yours was sold in mid 72. You would expect them to have built a lot more than 3783 in a year. (They built about 20,000 mini Deluxes betweeen mid 65 and mid 66)
