Post subject:  Engine Breathers & Carbon Canister
Hey,

I have a 1275 motor that has a carbon canister that has had the tubes cut on it.
I was just wondering where the carbon canister connects to:

1) Rocker Cover
2) Engine Breather - one on left
3) Atmosphere.

If they are the correct places for the tubes that run into the carbon canister.
I was just wondering what tube hooks up to the crank case breather?
Are any of these breather ment to hook up to the carb?

Any help would be appreciated :)

[edit] - by the way I'm running a delorto(spelling) carb set up, whether this makes a difference or not I'm unsure.

The atmospheric vent on the charcoal canister is underneath. The pipes on top normally go to fuel tank breather, SU float bowl breather, & air inlet to rocker cover.
Don't try to run crankcase fumes to it, you will just clog it up.

Crankcase vent connects to the vac port on side of later SU's, on cars that used the canister. If running a Dellorto (like I do) you really have only 2 choices-
1. Put a Smiths PCV valve on the manifold, (as I did with 68delux's car) or-
2. Run it into a catch tank. I use a 1L oil bottle. 8)

Not really. It's just a charcoal filter, absorbs hydrocarbon fumes to stop them venting to atmosphere. :wink:

You are suppoed to replace the chracol in the canister every 6 months or so as it gets clogged and doesn't work anymore. They don't do much and was installed in mini's to appease ADR's on emmissions.
