Howdy,

Well, the panel and paint work is starting. Car is basically stripped. Glass out, doors off, gutted, etc. Pics tomorrow

Oh yeah, broke the windscreen getting it out. PO has used heaps and heaps of silicone/liquid nails or something and it wouldnt move, pulled it and crack.

Anyway, I have a spare.

Anyone got any tips. What new parts did you need when you did yours??
I have windscreen and rear window rubbers, door rubbers are new as is boot.
I dont have the rubbers for the roll up door windows...

What else can you think of?

Cheers,
Peter

Just to start the shopping list off.....

Door and boot hinge gaskets.
Hinge kits while you are there.

-Fuel Tank Grommet
-Bonnet support bungs
-Boot Bungs(if your painting in the boot)
-Seam Covers, you should really take them off and see what is under them. There Cheap and it'll save you doing it all again when it rusts because you didn't fix it.
- Defiantly get new wind up & flipper window rubbers.
Your car will sound so much quieter..... Like you care... but it does look much nicer
- GT Stripes, cause there hot!
- Side mouldings ( if yours aren't crash hot)

I am sure there is more on top of what i and the others have mentioned, but hey, it will just keep adding up....

Cheers
Aaron

Am I imagining it, or did I see once that Spectrum (or perhaps Karcraft or mini king) have an actual "Kit" with all the rubbers required for a complete rebuild - it's going back quite a few years now though but I seem to recall someone having it.

Thanks Everyone,

Thing is, I dont need the whole kit... I just need roll up window rubbers, one rear windscreen locking strip. I have Door Rubbers, Boot rubber, windscreen rubber.

So far I can see Ill need:
- Fuel Tank Grommet
- Seam Covers
- Wind up & flipper window rubbers.
- Side mouldings... of some sort
- Door and boot hinge gaskets.
- Hinge kits (possibly)
- Rear 1/4 window rubbers (possibly)
- Door Lock mechanisms (what goes on the outside of the door - internals are all ok.

I am also filling in the antenna hole... I would like to mount it on the roof... that means taking off the roof lining right? Which I dont really want to do... but it might already be off if he thinks the roof needs work.
There wont be door locks in it... just handles, as its running central locking that I installed and tested already.

Make sure to change both the rear 1/4 window rubbers- if water gets in there it rots the flange off, then can get down lower and rot the side panel or sill.

Re the roof antenna- with the front screen out, unglue the leading edge of the lining about 300mm either side of centre, you can then get your fingers in there to fit it without buggering up the shape.
Run the antenna cable down inside the RH A pillar, there are no wires in there like the other side.

Left front floor, sill, rear left window all cut out.
Will put in the floor, then take the angle grinder to the A panels and then move on to the rest.

Rear number plate flap removed too, will be filled in and just the plate put on (and light)

Still looking for a bonnet in decent nick... to replace mine.
Bought new hinge gaskets today... so they are ready.
Will grab the rear window locking strip on Monday.

While he was doing some panel work, I removed the head, turbo, etc... so I could put the Mk1 valves in after its sent off for k-lining.

Good day overall...
