when i turn on my ignition my fuel guage goes up to about 1/4 but if i tap my speedo where my fuel guage is the fuel guage goes up a bit i tap it again and it keeps going up until it reads full..... it isnt full it only has about 8 litres in it 2 4 litre tins thanks

what does the temp gauge do??
could be a faulty voltage reg on the back of the speedo housing.
12 volts going in to reg and should have around 8 or nine volts max coming out.

Swap the stabiliser (process of elimination -step 1).

the temp guage is ok so is the oil pressure its just the fuel guage

Or maybe per chance the sender unit.
process of elimination - step 2- swap sender unit or check variable resistance with multimeter.

just the fuel guage to change the colour of the needle it was faded orange and white looks much beta i then put it bak together and this is what happens?

tut tut tut..... do we need to take it apart and check it again? maybe we connected the wires wrong or ..... ?

yes, sounds like some sort of earthing/connection problem.
