Just need some clarification. How can you sell an already registered car without a RWC? The transfer form (Vehicle Reg Transfer Form) requires you to sell it with one. Does the seller unregister the car for you to get your own RWC? |

in QLD it is illegal to sell registered vehicle without providing RWC, so the seller must provide RWC if you want to sell that way. otherwise you have to sell it unregistered thats in QLD not sure if the same with VIC |

He's right, you have to get an RWC in Vic to sell it registered. The only way out is if you sell it with rego and the new owner gets the RWC and then you transfer the rego to his name. Meanwhile you are responsible for any parking tickets or speeding fines the new owner gets, cos the car is still in your name. If you are selling the car to a licensed dealer, then you do not need an RWC. It is the dealers responsibility to get one before he on-sells the car to a non-dealer. |
