Spied on the news tonight that there was a death on the road in Tasmania and that the person was in a Green Clubman. Hope it wasn't someone we knew.

Tasmania Police said there were two people in the vehicle but it was unclear who was driving or exactly when the accident happened.

The car was found in a bush off the highway.

The other person in the vehicle has been taken to Launceston Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Twelve hours earlier, a 25-year-old man was thrown from a car and then crushed by it when it crashed in Spring Street, Sheffield, in Tasmania's north, about 12.50am (AEDT) Friday.

A 17-year-old male passenger, also thrown from the car, was taken to the La Trobe Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Neither were wearing seatbelts, police said.

The national Easter weekend road toll has risen to nine after a third fatal accident in Tasmania.

Police say they do not know when the single vehicle accident happened on the Bass highway, about 12 kilometres west of Elizabeth Town in the state's north.

The car was found off the road this afternoon. A woman was killed and another person has been taken by ambulance to the Mersey hospital.

Accident investigators remain at the scene.

i Just went and looked an a Tas specific news sight that had photos of all the cars involved in fatalities in TAS and none of them where minis. I definitely saw a green clubman and the people in the car would not be well. Maybe it wasn't in Tas.

Seems sadder that it was in a mini, might be because it's more closely related to us :(

It is sad to see that more people have died on our roads. I hope that it is no one from here.

Sad to hear of this accident (or any accident for that matter), and I guess it has more effect because of the mini factor.
Poor old Tassie hasn't faired too well on the roads so far this weekend. Take care folks.
Peter.
