Despite an increased police presence on the roads this weekend, there are still a lot of f/wits out there - just been for a cruise in the mini and saw some unbelievable driving, just mind boggling stuff. Like the wally in the turbo nissan passing me and the car in front, in a 100 zone just out of my town (we doing probably 90), on a bend with a crossroad, over double lines and doing at least 160 - too fast to get his number, and spent a few minutes searching town for him - don't know what I would have done if I'd found him, but it wouldn't have been nice. Where are the coppers when you need them! Take care out there folks and be on the lookout for suicude missions. Peter. |

I read in the paper the other day that they are going to open up a hotline you can call to dob in hoons.... Im rapt cos there has been soooooo many occasions Ive wanted to pull people up on some real stupid and pointlessly reckless driving.... yes im a dobber ... so be it... I do wonder tho how they are going to handle the hotline... sorting the pranks from the real stuff? I suppose there'd have to be an enquiry process thatd put people off messing with people they know like ex revenges etc... |

Good point. ive been working up elphinstone way and have driven the calder three times this weekend. alot of people need to learn simple driving techniqies like leaving space when overtaking. a 110 zone is different to a 60 zone or peak hour traffic. no point getting frustrated just be cautious good luck to all happy and safe easter |

Im rapt cos there has been soooooo many occasions Ive wanted to pull people up on some real stupid and pointlessly reckless driving.... yes im a dobber ... so be it... That is the problem, people will call for another reason. I used to live in a nice quiet neighborhood and a church wanted to build a drug-rehab centre on 15 acres of bush. Most of my neighbors were against it but I was in favor (I figured that one building with fifteen to thirty kids under supervision on 15 acres was better than a housing estate on 15 acres!)
I do wonder tho how they are going to handle the hotline... sorting the pranks from the real stuff? I suppose there'd have to be an enquiry process thatd put people off messing with people they know like ex revenges etc... One of my neighbors didn't like my views so they started making complaints to the police about my driving to get back at me. ![]() So the whole system will be open to abuse. Don't like Datsuns? Dob them in for dangerous driving. Don't like doof doof music? Dob them in for dangerous driving. Don't like Jehovah's Witnesses knocking on the door? Dob them in for dangerous driving. Where will it end? |

I got pulled over for an RBT last night around 12, the coppers thanked me for pulling off the road in a safe place, giving them enough room behind me for their car and for pulling far enough over to the left so they weren't standing on the road. I didnt think it was that special just common sense but the officer said it was quite uncommon for people to do that. I guess I'm just a nice guy ![]() ![]() ![]() On a separate note I was driving in a 100km zone and came up behind a guy going between 60 and 80 over a 10k stretch. When we finally got to a passing zone (broken white line) I passed him then when I was in front of him the bastard high beamed me  now I was tolerating his dangerously low speeds but when I passed him in a marked area then he dose something like that, that's when I get relay pi$$ed off ![]() ![]() (and if you don't think 60 in a 100 zone is dangerous next time your on the highway give it a go) my 2c and rant over. |

95kph in a 100 zone can be dangerous! When my Kenworth is speed limited to 105kph I don't want to be stuck behind a slow car. I have to find the right spot to overtake and do so at only 10kph quicker, on the wrong side of the road!! Wipe off 5, and annoy the hell out of the poor bastard behind you |

It's not the 60-70 in the 100km zone that really annoy me, it is the stupid mongrels that decide to speed up when you come up to an over taking area, or wait until you are actually overtaking them and then speed up.... ![]() ![]() |

Will be like everything else , when you ring they ask for your contact details and if the number doesn't match the one you're calling from it's an instant query . Blocking your caller ID sending doesn't work when you call 000 or police etc ![]() |

Put it simply - I am not in favour of vigilante actions. Its just to open to abuse and we are not judges of fact with a legal system to back our observations. I am in the RFS and do a number of MVA's as such. The biggest worry to us is passing traffic - and in a rural area thats passing traffic at speed. I had someone booked on saturday for failing to observe a lawful traffic control. Fortunately he was observed by an attending police officer. Although I must admit this is different to a hoon repeatedly doing burnouts in a quiet residential street - camera phone evidence helps though. But in principle - I dislike vigilante actions. |
