Ok, Its finally happening!
The Pink Slip inspector was cool, but said 'Mate, I simply cant pass this... '

There was too much rust and not surface, holes - mighty big ones.
A panels, Floor, sills, anywhere there was metal basically haha

Anyway, made the call to my panel beater (who happens to be my cousin) and dropped her off over there. Will be done in a few weeks.

Go away rust, I hate you...

Then respray and back on the road.
Not a show finish ... just a nice neat job, cutting out all the rust and then sanding it back, primer and respray.

While its off the road, will fix my fuel pump ... see my turbo thread for fuel pump dilemma.

Peter.

Thanks Matt, there might be a small delay on those brake bits now though mate... ill get em as soon as I can.

I also forgot to mention that I completely melted through my accelerator cable...
The cable runs near the exhaust manifold and turbo, but never had any issues, then all of a sudden, sticky pedal... hmmmm

Hopped out, looked at the cable and the outer plastic was COMPLETELY melted in one section... just a bare wire.

Replaced with a proper accellerator cable now... it had some yellow accellerator cable. It had the wire in middle, and only a plastic outer sleeve, thats all... the new one has wire, metal sleeve (like a coil) just like the speedo cables...

Peter.

that rust really sucks !

ive fixed the back of my clubby up after i tap'd a tree so it now has some metal in the back of it!. i started the front end this week...

the bottom off the front gaurds are really bad, they looked ok before i picked at them! somebody has bogged over bits of coke cans and all kinds of crap to hide the rust! i could put my fist thru the front gaurd after taking out a load of fibreglass and bog!. ive been weldin plates in and sick of grinding welds for a few days!. i got rid of the front seams that run from the roof to the wheel arch in the process so i hope it looks good when finished coz what a crap job that is !

I've nearly finished the right front floor in mine, I put another patch in but then had to chase holes, then cut another little patch... :x
Even now there are a couple of small holes above the pipe tray, I'm not game to weld there. The battery cable, brake pipe, and hydro line is in there.... and I can't get the hydro pipe down enough to slip metal over it. So, now I've metal readied it all, I'll fibreglass that bit then POR15 it all.
I still have the running gear all in it and rego due soon so it'll have to do.
